Happy Valentine’s Day!
With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching I always find myself taking stock of my relationships. Almost a month ago I had a surprise revelation from an unlikely source.
I have to begin by explaining that since earliest childhood I have followed what I call guidance. Sometimes this “guidance” comes as an image or feeling. There are other times that I have heard actual words (never audible) that are almost like a conversation; this is how this time was.
A few weeks ago I received the guidance to watch a program about Blac Chyna. In case you are unfamiliar with her, she is very active on social media and also has a daughter with Rob Kardashian. With some bewilderment I sat down to watch.
At the beginning of the show she talks a little about her journey. She does believe she is an important influencer. I googled her and she does have 16.1 million followers. I could see where those numbers would be impressive to some people.
The next words that she said surprised me to no end. She said, “No successful person does it on their own. There are people that come and go whether they show up to help you be your best, or to create hurdles that also help you to grow, they all have a purpose. My mother had been both.”
I was mega shocked at the wisdom of her words. Looking back I have had both kinds of relationships. I have been blessed enough to mostly have supporters that were like cheerleaders. The second kind have been very few, but also a gift. I just found myself so grateful for the people in my life; the ones that are easy to be with, and even the challenging few.
This year of course there is a whole other layer that we have never dealt with before. With the social distancing I realized how much I have taken contact for granted.
Overall I feel blessed by the words of this unlikely source. It really meant something to me. I am praying that you gain something from it as well.
