Greetings from all of us here at Serenity Now.
I (Brooke) always feel nostalgic when I write the April newsletter because it marks the anniversary of the business. This one is the start of our 18th year. Not a single one of these days would have been possible without you.
I quickly glanced at the calendar earlier today and found that Easter is on 4/4. April 13th is the first day of Ramadan, which is a time of spiritual reflection and heightened devotion for Muslims. April 14th is “reach as high as you can day.” Google told me “the holiday is a reminder that almost anything is possible.”
Having seen the miracles that I have seen with my own eyes; I would say let’s take the word almost out of that sentence.
Earth day is on April 22nd. St. George’s Day is on April 23rd. According to legend, St. George was a soldier in the Roman Army who slayed a dragon and saved a princess. After seeing movies like “How to Train Your Dragon” I would never want to harm this creature, I am thinking slaying the dragon is metaphorical for nothing can stop us. Plus, I would see the role of the princess as Wonder Woman; and not one who needs to be saved. By the way, the shopping center where Serenity Now is located is on the side street named Lake St. George. April 27th is Freedom Day in South Africa.
All of these different holidays and celebrations seemed to be connected. I felt they had a couple of messages for me. One- that we are all connected, and two- that limits can be overcome.
I don’t know if we have ever needed these messages more.
