SPIRIT OF THE TAO TE CHING differs from Warner's previous releases in that the music is not solo and acoustic but instead features a variety of instruments including synthesizers/keyboards, soprano saxophone, nature sounds and percussion. Of course, Warner's flute playing is still one of the album's strongest elements, lending the music an air of spirituality and calm. Special guest Nancy Rumbel performs English horn on one track.
