This bracelet was created to be a celebration of life. It reminds us to enjoy all the moments of your life and to strive to make a difference. This bracelet was inspired by the life of William “Billy” Dederer, who magnificently personified living outrageously, fully and joyously.
Although I did not personally know Billy very well, I knew of him, as he was a colleague of my daughter, Marcie. When Billy passed away suddenly in August 2006 at the early age of 29, the grief felt by his friends, family, co-workers and students was overwhelming. The loss of such a fun, outgoing, creative, talented and inspiring person devastated all who knew him.
A few days after his death, Billy’s spirit contacted me at 4:08 a.m. and beckoned me to get out of bed and record our encounter so that I could not mistake it for a dream. He requested that I make a bracelet with his favorite colors blue, green and purple, to remind people to “live their best life, and to live every moment as a joyous adventure.”
During our talk, Billy told me that he is an “Overbeing.” Overbeings are sent here to make a difference, to create a path so that others may also walk along the path. (Overbeings usually do not live past 30 years old.) His path is a path of joy, creativity, generosity and music and he assists those that will walk that path.
Billy requested that at least once a year you do something outrageous; something that you would not normally do. Do this in honor of him or someone you love and have lost. Know they are with you and they are smiling.
